The last week of term is already here! If you haven’t done so already, then please do sign up for parents’ evening – either Tuesday, or Thursday evenings. You should receive a text about clubs, so  please do check if clubs are running on these days. We look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you.

The week will be very busy as usual, with more cooking in KS1, the KNEX challenge in KS2 and a surprise visitor for the whole school. However, Forest School returns to Friday, as normal.

Finally, the website is being updated over half-term, with new class pages, so that you can be updated with class information and download any homework that goes missing.

Welcome to Sherborne C of E Primary School.  john

My name is John Moore and I have the privilege of leading this small, friendly school in the middle of a beautiful village in the heart of the Cotswolds. At Sherborne we offer all our children a broad and balanced range of learning opportunities through a superbly designed curriculum delivered in a unique environment:

  • Small class sizes – we have recently created an additional classroom to enable us to provide personalised education for every child. Our two Key Stage 2 classes have a maximum class size of 16, whilst our Reception and Key Stage 1 class has a maximum class size of 24. This class is also supported by two highly effective teaching assistants.
  • Erasmus+ School – Sherborne has an outward looking approach to education. We have close links with other schools in Europe and run exchange visits for staff and pupils throughout the year. Through this we are able to share our expertise with others as well as learning effective teaching approaches from our European friends.
  • National Trust site – The primary school is situated on land owned by the National Trust. Consequently we have a stunning site which boasts a large playing field, school pond and inspiring views.
  • Forest School – We are the only school in the country to run a forest school in a National Trust forest. Whereas other schools may offer ‘Welly Wednesday’ in the school grounds, we offer weekly exploration of the neighbouring woodland. Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are able to follow the beautiful pathways which change through the seasons, picking blackberries along the way!
  • A committed, highly effective staff – all the adults at Sherborne are friendly and hard-working. We take a collective responsibility for the education of all children at the school and have a specific meeting every six weeks to ensure that all children are making progress.

I hope that you will find all the information you need when you browse through our website. If you have any questions then do not hesitate to call our school administrator Mrs Parker to arrange a time to come and visit us. We very much look forward to meeting you and your family.
