We are already half-way through the third term and the new topic work is proving very interesting and exciting. This week pupils have been wrapped up as mummies, made electrical circuits to fix a time-machine and made music to replicate rainforest animals; additionally Hedgehog class have begun to develop the wild-life area where the tall trees have been removed.

This week we welcome two student teachers to Sherborne on Thursday, who will be with us for the coming weeks. We are pleased to support the development of new teachers.

Welcome to Fox Class. We are a small Year 3 and 4 class at the heart of the school. We enjoy making time for imaginative play each week, and also work hard as a team to develop positive learning habits.

In Fox Class, children are encouraged to embrace challenge and to celebrate their progress. They are taught a balanced curriculum through planning that responds to the needs of the children. Learning is linked to the class topic and children enjoy learning through discussion, practical problem solving, outdoor learning, singing, observing, focused work and even rapping!  As a small class, we consider ourselves a team. The supportive nature of our Fox Class is a delight to see, as children strive to support one another in so many different ways.

Our main topic this term has been Pirates. We have really enjoyed using this theme at the core of our learning and it has been fantastic to see the quality of work produced both in school and at home. To conclude the topic, children performed a special Treasure Island assembly. Our next topic will be Winter Wonderland.

This term, alongside our topic work, we have also begun to work on our Maths Passport skills in class. We have already started to enjoy this focused time in the mornings, which enables us to sharpen our maths skills. Fox Class is looking forward to sharing this good practice across the school in the new year.
