Week four sees our Reception pupils in full time, 8.50 – 3.15. We are delighted to see how the older pupils have been  getting to know their names and taking care of them in the playground. This caring attitutude is something we are very proud of at Sherborne. This coming week sees our first sporting tournament of the year – quicksticks hockey, so we will continue to promote the #YesUCan message across all our curriculum.

We are lucky to have a wonderful pre-school located in the grounds of the primary school, in a building that used to be a telephone exchange, with lots of outdoor space for exploration and play. The pre-school has room for 11 children at each session from the age of two and a half upwards and many of the children attending already have siblings at the school. The three permanent members of staff are terrific and link up with the school for events and trips where suitable. The pre-school has been run in the village for over 25 years and is organized by a community group with charitable status. There is a very well attended Toddler and Baby group held in the building starting at 9am every Wednesday morning.

Secondary Schools

The majority of our children go on to The Cotswold School at Bourton-on-the-Water. This is a comprehensive school of about 1190 pupils and close links have been established to ensure a smooth transition from our year six to their year seven. This includes a planned programme of induction days there and visits made by the Secondary School staff to us. Sometimes children go further afield to schools in Burford, Fairford, Cirencester or Cheltenham.
