Week four sees our Reception pupils in full time, 8.50 – 3.15. We are delighted to see how the older pupils have been  getting to know their names and taking care of them in the playground. This caring attitutude is something we are very proud of at Sherborne. This coming week sees our first sporting tournament of the year – quicksticks hockey, so we will continue to promote the #YesUCan message across all our curriculum.

School Council

The school council is made up our Year 6 pupils. They represent ‘the voice’ of the other pupils and pass on everyone’s thoughts and ideas during termly meetings.

Mrs Wood is the chairperson of the school council meetings where the children discuss all sorts of things from the design of the playground to which charities are to be supported by school events.
Being a rural school, environmental issues come up a lot at Sherborne. This year, with the school council’s help we are going to be developing our ‘marsh’ area.

Our children are great readers too and so at meetings there are often suggestions for new books to be purchased for the library. Other issues that the council like discussing are school trip ideas, Children in Need plans and organising more sporting fixtures.
